New Glass Chip Charts

Quick Reference Chip Charts for glass fusers using CFE products.

  • Remember that “CC” Color Concentrates are a ceramic underglaze so there are precautions to take when firing.
  • Some CC colors will fade out when capped with glass or powdered frit.  These are the pinks and some of the purple colors.
  • You can stamp with CC’s.
  • You can do brushstrokes with CC’s.
  • You can do the “Ink” technique with the CC’s.
  • It is always a good idea to create your chart so you have it as a reference.
  • All CFE Enamels do not need to be capped.  They gloss on their own.

  • CC Chart is made with 2 – 2″ x 3″ pieces 3mm glass and 1 – 2mm piece that is 1/2″ x 3″.
  • Paint on one of the 2 x 3″ pieces.
  • The second piece is put underneath to keep it from dog-boning and the 1/2 x 3″ piece is put on the left side on the top.
  • We sifted with clear powder frit over the painted area and then capped the left side with the 2mm piece.  This allows you to see what the color does with sifted and capped.
  • If you get too heavy with the brushstrokes some of the colors can crack.
  • All of the colors applied were used straight from the bottle after shaking.  No water was added.

  • All Chips are 2 – 2″ x 2″.  BubbleART colors were applied with a solid application on the lower left side.
  • The upper right side has lines that were made with a liner brush and dots with the tip of the liner.
  • On the other piece of glass, a small corner of color was flooded on the upper right corner.  This piece was placed over the other piece.
  • BubbleART makes bubbles between 2 pieces of glass.  The small area on the top will be rough and not food-safe but shows you how much texture you will get when not capping.
  • Paste examples show you how you can use for an outline and flood colors between the lines and it can be capped.
  • You can tint the white paste with “CC’s” Color Concentrates.  Just remember that you are adding color to a white base and it will be pastel.
  • Never mix more than 50/50 color to paste.
  • “GS” Series-1-2″x 2″ and 1 – 1″ x 2″ piece.
  • The color was flooded on the 2″ x 2″ piece and the 1″ x 2″ was placed on the left side to show what would happen with capped.
  • Outline colors we don’t recommend that you cap it.  It creates large bubbles.  The black is worse than the white.

  • All chips here were 1-2″x 2″ and 1 – 1″ x 2″ pieces.
  • The color was flooded on the 2″ x 2″ piece and the 1″ x 2″ was placed on the left side to show what would happen when capped.

The glass used was 96 COE and fired to 1410 degrees.
